Bowdoin Man Charged with Fleeing Accident

Authorities say Toby Johnston was arrested and charged with drunken driving and leaving the scene of an accident after a crash in Solon.

SOLON, Maine (AP) _ A Bowdoin man is in trouble for allegedly fleeing the scene of a crash in Solon that left his passenger injured.

Police say an SUV struck a utility pole on Route 201 just before 1 a.m. Sunday. The SUV was totaled and the pole was snapped in half.

When police arrived, the driver was gone.

Thirty-five-year-old Toby Johnston was found by a Somerset County Sheriff's Department tracking dog in the nearby woods about two hours later.

He was arrested and charged with drunken driving and leaving the scene of an accident.

His passenger was taken to Redington-Fairview General Hospital in Skowhegan for treatment. His name was not released.
