Juvenile Fire Suspects Come Before Judge
05/06/2013 03:31 PM ET

The proceeding involving the two 12-year-old boys was closed to the public.

Two 12-year-old boys charged with causing the first two out of three major fires in Lewiston were brought before a judge today.

The proceeding was closed to the publc because a formal petition to detain the boys has not yet been officially filed. That process is underway, officials tell MPBN.

A formal arriagnment for the boys is scheduled for May 13.

The boys are accused of setting two separate fires - one a week ago and another on Sunday - which destroyed a total of seven buildings and left dozens homeless.

A third fire early this morning on Bartlett Street destroyed two more buildings, and is currently under investigation.

This story was reported by Susan Sharon and written by Barbara Cariddi.
