CMP Expects to Restore Power to All Customers Tonight, Bangor Hydro a Bit Longer
12/27/2013 5:20 PM ET

Central Maine Power Company said in a statement that it expects to restore electrical service to all customers sometime this evening following the ice storm that hit Maine earlier this week.

AUGUSTA, Maine __ The company began the day with approximately 6,000 outages. Crews have worked through the day to reduce that number to fewer than 1,000 outages remain scattered across Kennebec, Waldo, and Hancock counties. The restoration effort will continue through the evening until all customers have service, with the exception of some seasonal facilities and remote camps that are inaccessible in winter.

Bangor Hydro has a little more than 5,000 of its customers still without power and areas hardest hit include parts of Hancock and Washington Counties, as well as lower Penobscot County. Bangor Hydro spokesperson Susan Falloon said concern has reached Washington, D.C. and Senator Susan Collins was briefed on the situation this afternoon.

According to the Bangor Hydro Outage website some customers might have to wait until the new year until power is restored.
