ST. FRANCIS, Maine (AP) _ Law enforcement officials say a New Hampshire bloodhound helped bring to a conclusion a weeklong search for a Maine man wanted in the shooting of his girlfriend.
Maine Public Safety Department spokesman Steve McCausland said 38-year-old Jesse Marquis was found in the woods Friday morning in St. Francis, near the Canadian border.
The spokesman said the bloodhound from the Strafford County Sheriff's Department joined the search Monday and led tactical team members to Marquis, who was sitting at the base of a tree with a rifle nearby.
Dozens of law enforcement officials had been searching for Marquis, who fled into the woods last weekend after leaving a home where the body of 31-year-old Amy Theriault was found.
McCausland said he'll likely make his first court appearance on Monday.
