Juan Contreras changed his plea to guilty today in connection with the killing last year of Grace Burton, 81, in her Farmington home.

FARMINGTON, Maine (AP) _ A Massachusetts man has pleaded guilty to murder in the fatal stabbing of an 81-year-old Maine woman.

Juan Contreras changed his plea Thursday on the fourth day of his trial in Franklin County Superior Court in Farmington.

The Morning Sentinel reported that under a plea agreement, Contreras was sentenced to 50 years in prison and will be deported to his native Guatemala upon his release.

Prosecutors said Contreras broke into Grace Burton's Farmington apartment after midnight June 21, 2011, and stabbed her 35 times as she slept in a recliner.

Contreras told police he had smoked marijuana laced with some drug and didn't know what he was doing.

He was living in Farmington at the time of the attack, but then moved to Massachusetts.
