Johnson Still Winner after Maine Senate Recount

State election officials have delcared Democrat Christopher Johnson of Somerville the winner over Republican challenger Leslie Fossil of Alna after a recount in the close Sentate District 20 race.

     AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) _ Maine election officials say Democratic state Sen. Christopher Johnson of Somerville remains the winner in his re-election race following a recount.
 
    Johnson's Republican challenger, state Rep. Leslie Fossel of Alna, requested the recount after unofficial results from Election Day indicated he had lost the election. The recount determined that 10,943 votes were cast for Johnson, while 10,772 were cast for Fossel.
 
    Eleven legislative candidate recounts have now been completed. Three candidate recounts remain to be completed through next Monday.
