    The Knox County Sheriff's Office says one person died in the single-car crash reported at about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday on Route 17.
 
    Firefighters from Hope and Union responded to the scene.
 
    The Portland Press Herald reports that a medical helicopter was initially called to the scene but was later canceled.
 
    The victim's name was not immediately made public and no other details were available.
