James Cameron is making an intial court appearance today in Alburquerque following his arrest on Sunday.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) _ A former Maine prosecutor who disappeared just hours after an appeals court upheld his child pornography convictions is due in court in New Mexico following his arrest.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Donald Clark in Portland, Maine, says James Cameron was making an initial appearance Monday in Albuquerque following his arrest the day before. Clarke says Cameron will be taken back to Maine by the U.S. Marshals Service after an identity hearing, which could happen as soon as Tuesday.

Last month, the 1st U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals upheld convictions against Cameron.

Cameron cut off his court-ordered electronic monitoring bracelet and drove away from his rented home in Rome, Maine, in the late-night or early-morning hours of Nov. 14 or 15.
