Biddeford Sex Offender Arrested on Drug Charges
12/11/2012 02:11 PM ET

Authorities say Michael McKeown, 46, resisted arrest when state drug agents and Biddeford police arrived at his home late yesterday afternoon.

A Biddeford man who lives across the street from an athletic field that has been designated as a safe zone by the city has been arrested after allegedly selling some of his prescription medication to an undercover agent.

Authorities say Michael McKeown, 46, resisted arrest when state drug agents and Biddeford police arrived at his home late yesterday afternoon. MDEA Supervisor Peter Mador says law enforcement had received numerous anonymous reports about McKeown.

"Through an investigation we were able to find somebody that could introduce us to Mr. McKeown, and an undercover officer did make that contact with him. And the undercover officer successfully was able to buy some of Mr. McKeown's prescribed medications from him," Mador says.

Mador says authorites are also looking into whether McKeown, who's on Maine's Sex Offender Registry and prohibited from having contact with teenagers, was allowing teens to come to his house and smoke marijuana with him.

This story was reported by Ed Morin.
