A boil-water order that went into effect Wednesday because of a water main break meant there was no coffee at coffee shops Thursday morning. But the crisis came to an end when the order was lifted about 9:00 am Thursday after water district officials determined the water was safe.

The Portland Water District said it found no immediate sign of contamination in a dozen water samples taken after Wednesday's incident.

About 4,000 homes and businesses, including two hospitals, were affected by the order.
