Heating Oil Prices Hold Steady in Maine
12/26/2012 03:56 PM ET

The Governor's Energy Office's weekly survey found that prices for heating oil and other fuels remained nearly unchanged from last week.

Heating oil prices held steady in Maine last week. That's according to the Governor's Energy Office's weekly survey, which found that the current statewide average cash price for No. 2 heating oil now stands at $3.64 per gallon, the same as last week.

The survey found varying prices for heating oil across the state, the lowest at $3.38 a gallon and the highest at $3.88. Kerosene is currently selling for $4.09, up a penny from last week, while propane, based on a use of at least 900 gallons a year, is selling for $2.71 per gallon, down two cents.

But state officials say analysts are seeing an "upward trend" in crude oil prices, due to the ongoing U.S. budget talks, a weaker dollar and new threats of terrorist attacks.
