PORTLAND, Maine (AP) _ Authorities say a 74-year-old Maine landlord will appear in court Monday to face charges in the shooting deaths of two tenants after a possible dispute over where they parked their cars during a snowstorm.
James Pak was arrested Saturday night after a standoff at his home in Biddeford. He is charged with two counts of murder in the deaths of 19-year-old Derrick Thompson and Thompson's girlfriend, 18-year-old Alivia Welch.
Thompson's mother called police around 7 p.m. to report the shootings. She suffered a gunshot wound but her 6-year-old son was not injured. Both live in the apartment.
State police spokesman Steve McCausland says Biddeford police were called to Pak's home earlier over a dispute about cars being parked in the driveway during the snowstorm.
