AIDS Activist Featured in Oscar-Nominated Doc Speaks at Portland Screening
01/18/2013   Reported By: Ed Morin

This weekend in Portland, SPACE Gallery is screening the Oscar-nominated documentary, "How To Survive A Plague." It's the story of how AIDS activists turned the tide on the epidemic, demanding action and helping to identify and push through new drugs that turned AIDS into something people could live with and manage, rather than being faced with an automatic death sentence. One of those featured prominently in the film is Peter Staley, who quit his job on Wall Street to become a full-time AIDS activist. Staley is in Portland to speak at the film's screening tonight at SPACE.  He spoke with MPBN'S Ed Morin.
