AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) _ Eliot Cutler, an independent who ran for Maine governor in 2010, says he plans to run again for the state's top office.
Cutler registered a candidate committee with the state ethics commission on Thursday for the 2014 race. His filing does not commit him to run for the office.
In 2010, Cutler lost a close race to Republican Paul LePage, who has already registered for next year's race and has a re-election campaign committee.
Cutler says polling done after last fall's elections helped persuade him to run.
