BELGRADE, Maine (AP) _ A Maine man who led police on a chase at speeds of up to 100 miles per hour faces charges of driving under the influence and eluding police - once he gets out of the hospital.
George Day of Rome was seriously injured Saturday night after he rolled his pickup truck in Belgrade following a roughly 12-mile chase.
He was taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland with what was described as ``a potential life-threatening injury.''
The Kennebec Journal reports that the 30-year-old Day was listed in satisfactory condition Sunday evening.
The chase started at about 6:30 p.m. Saturday when Day was spotted driving 74 miles per hour in a 55 zone. Day turned off his vehicle's lights, and rolled the truck after the trooper broke off the pursuit.
