Wal-Mart Drops Falmouth Expansion Plan

A company official says the project was scuttled because construction costs were higher than expected.

FALMOUTH, Maine (AP) _ Wal-Mart has dropped its plans to expand its store in Falmouth, Maine.

The town had approved the company's proposal to expand its store into a Super Center by taking over a vacant movie theater building next to the store.

But a Wal-Mart official told WMTW-TV that the company decided against the project because construction costs were higher than expected.
