Officials say a man asked a saleswoman at the jewelry store Goldworks to show him some rings, then he ran out of the store with them.

AUBURN, Maine (AP) _ Police in Maine are looking for a man who stole two engagement rings from an Auburn jewelry store and then pawned them in Lewiston.

The owner of Goldworks jewelry store tells the Lewiston Sun-Journal the man asked to see engagement rings Thursday. A saleswoman showed him two rings. He asked what size they were, then ran out of the store with the rings, worth about $7,000.

Police said the man likely got into a car that sped to Lewiston. The rings were pawned there for $1,000.

Police were able to see the man on surveillance video and took fingerprints at the jewelry store.
