The Legislature's Appropriation's Committee is holding another day of hearings on Governor John Baldacci's plan to close a $140 million budget gap before the fiscal year ends in June. Yesterday, the Committee heard testimony from those affected by proposed cuts in the Department of Corrections and the Department of Health and Human Services. Up for consideration today are budget cuts proposed for the Departments of Education, Labor, Economic and Community Development and several other agencies that get state funding, including the Maine Public Broadcasting Network.
