Oak Hill High Students Arrested in Ice Chunk Incident
03/19/2010 3:16 PM ET

The boys are accused of throwing a chunk of ice off a turnpike overpass in Lewiston that crashed through the windshield of a passing vehicle, seriously injuring a Sabattus man.

Three Oak Hill High School students have been arrested in connection with an ice-throwing incident that badly injured a Sabattus motorist last year.

State police officials say the three boys, between the ages of 16 and 17, are accused of throwing a block of ice off the Webster Street turnpike overpass in Lewiston in January of last year.  The beach-ball sized chunk crashed through the windshield of a vehicle driven by Robert Deschaine, who suffered serious facial injuries.

Deschaine's brother, who was in the passenger seat, managed to slow the vehicle and guide it into the breakdown lane, authorities say.

The three boys are charged with aggravated assault with a dangerous weapon.  Authorities say they were apprehended on the basis of new information on the case that came to light in the past few weeks.
