Dr. David A. York was taken into custody yesterday after hundreds of images and videos of child porn were found on computers in his home.

A Topsham doctor is facing child pornography charges following an investigation by the State Police Computer Crimes Unit.

Dr. David A. York, 59, a physician with Concentra Medical Centers in Augusta and Lewiston, was arrested yesterday at his home in Topsham on five counts of possession of child pornography. York was taken to Two Bridges County Jail in Wiscasset.

Maine State Police Chief Col. Patrick Fleming says two computers were seized yesterday morning from York's house, and a preliminary examination found hundreds of images and videos of child porn.

Fleming says there are no indications that the images are of Maine children -- officials say most of them appear to be from file sharing with other personal computers around the country, also known as a peer-to-peer network. But they say investigators are continuing to examine the two computers.
