Spc. Wade Slack, 21, a Waterville native, was killed May 6 in a mortar attack in Jaghuta, Afghanistan.

Gov. John Baldacci has ordered that flags be flown at half-staff Sunday for the funeral of a Waterville native killed in Afghanistan.

Spc. Wade A. Slack, 21, was killed May 6 in Jaghuta, Afghanistan in a mortar attack by insurgents, authorities say. He was serving with the Army's 707th Ordnance Battalion based in Fort Lewis, Washington, as a specialist in defusing explosives.

Slack's parents live in Waterville, where a service for Slack is planned for Sunday afternoon at the Blessed Hope Advent Church.
