| Former Maine Prosecutor Waives Right to Jury Trial on Child Porn Charges |

A former Maine assistant attorney general facing child pornography charges has waived his right to a jury trial. The Bangor Daily News reports that James Cameron, 48, of Hallowell, has instead asked for a bench trial, which is scheduled to begin August 16 in U.S. District Court in Portland before U.S. District Judge John Woodcock.
Cameron is accused of downloading child pornography on his home computer. The investigation began when an Internet provider reported thatimages of child pornography had been downloaded by an email addressed traced to Cameron's home, the paper reports.
Cameron, the former head drug prosecutor for the Maine Attorney General's Office, has pleaded not guilty to the charges. e remains free on $75,000 unsecured bail, but must wear an electronic monitor and limit his use of the Internet.
