| The state is seeking companies to run two dispensaries in York and Washington Counties. |
|
The state has received 19 applications from non-profit corporations to operate medical marijuana dispensaries in Maine. This is the second round of applications for eight dispensaries that will be opened across the state.
In the first round, 27 applications were submitted, and three companies were chosen to operate six of the eight dispensaries. But none of the applicants met minimum standards for dispeansaries in York and Washington Counties, so the application process was reopened.
A panel of four will review and score the applications on a variety of criteria, including location, patient education, security and quality control, among others.
Maine's Department of Health and Human Services is scheduled to announce the winning applicants by August 31.
