While saying she has not formerly endorsed Mitt Romney's bid for the GOP presidential nomination, Maine Republican Sen. Susan Collins says she's a proponent of the former Massachusetts governor.
Collins says she was pleased to see such a vigorous debate leading up to the New Hampshire primaries, but she is disappointed about what she calls the very negative advertising in Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina.
She's says she doesn't think that's what the American people want to see. "I think they want to see a vigorous debate of philosophical differences, of the programs that are being put forth by the candidates," she says. "But I don't think they like these personal attacks."
Collins says she will probably wait until after the South Carolina primary to officially endorse Romney.
