06/15/2012 09:03 AM ET

Maine Gov. Paul LePage has ordered flags to be lowered to half-staff for Saturday's funeral for an Army helicopter pilot killed in a crash in Afghanistan.

BANGOR, Maine (AP) _ The body of Capt. John Brainard III of Newport arrived in Maine on Thursday.

A wake is scheduled for Friday evening, and funeral Mass is scheduled for Saturday at St. Anne's Roman Catholic Church in Dexter, followed by burial in Plymouth.

The 26-year-old Brainard died on Memorial Day when the helicopter he was piloting went down in Afghanistan. Military officials say there was no enemy activity in the area at the time.
