Democrats Prevail in Three Maine House District Recounts
11/16/2012 11:31 AM ET

The recounts were conducted in Maine House Districts 70, 144 and 109; eight more recounts are scheduled.

Democrats have prevailed in recounts conducted in three more close Maine legislative races. That's according to Maine Secretary of State Charlie Summers.

In House District 70, Democrat R. Wayne Werts of Auburn still came out ahead of Republican challenger Bruce Bickford of Auburn by a mere four votes.

In House District 144, William Noon of Sanford prevailed over Republican Daniel John Archambault of Acton by 23 votes. And in House District 109, Anne Graham of North Yarmouth beat Gray Republican Susan Auston by 34 votes.

The recounts are among 14 that had to be conducted in very close races in Maine. Six have been completed and eight more remain. The last of the recounts are scheduled for Nov. 19, 20 and 26.
