Independent Cutler Eyes New Run for Governor
01/24/2013 11:41 AM ET

Cutler tells WZON radio he will register with the state ethics commission today for the 2014 race, though at this hour, his filing is not on the commission's Web site.

AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) _ Eliot Cutler, an independent who ran for Maine governor in 2010, says he plans to run again for the state's top office.

Cutler tells WZON radio he will register with the state ethics commission on Thursday for the 2014 race. His filing did not appear on the commission's Web site by late morning.

In 2010, Cutler lost a close race to Republican Paul LePage, who has already registered as a candidate for next year's race. Cutler says polling done after last year's elections helped persuade him to run.
