PORTLAND, Maine (AP) _ The members of Maine's congressional delegation reacted largely favorably to President Obama's State of the Union address, although Republican U.S. Sen. Susan Collins questioned how the country would pay for some of the Democratic president's proposals.

Collins says she "appreciated'' that the president called for both parties to work together, but was "concerned'' he did not explain how he intends to pay for his agenda without further burdening middle-income families and small businesses.

Independent Sen. Angus King says it is now up to Congress to act.

Democratic U.S. Rep. Chellie Pingree praised the president for addressing clean energy and gun violence in addition to the economy.

Democratic U.S. Rep. Mike Michaud said the country needs to better take care of its military veterans as the war in Afghanistan winds down.
