Maine Heating Oil Prices Continue to Fall

The statewide average price for No. 2 heating oil in Maine is now 34 cents lower than it was at the season's peak in mid-February.

Heating oil prices in Maine fell by an average of 5 cents last week.

That's according to the Governor's Energy Office, which says its weekly survey finds that the average statewide price for No. 2 heating oil stands at $3.50 a gallon - 34 cents lower than the season peak in mid-February.

Kerosene prices also fell, by an average of 3 cents, to $3.96 a gallon, while propane, based on a yearly use of at least 900 gallons, rose 2 cents, to $2.75 a gallon.

The survey found wide variations in heating oil prices throughout the state, from a high of $3.70 a gallon to a low of $3.19 a gallon.
