Journalist Soraya Sarhaddi Nelson has spent much of the last decade reporting from the world's trouble spots across the Middle East. After many years in print journalism she joined NPR in 2006 and was posted to Kabul, where she established the network's Afghan bureau. Now based in Cairo, Nelson has been busy this year covering the events of the Arab Spring. And last night she was at Colby College in Waterville, where she was honored with the 2011 Elijah Parish Lovejoy Award for courageous journalism--the first broadcast journalist to receive it. She spoke earlier today with MPBN's Tom Porter.
