More Competitors Enter Maine's Electric Supply Market
11/18/2012   Reported By: Irwin Gratz

Since 2000, it has been legally possible for Mainers to shop around for electric supply. But only recently have companies begun offering alternatives to the so-called "standard offer" for residential and small business customers. Public Utilities Commission Chairman Tom Welch told MPBN's Irwin Gratz that several factors have brought competitors into the marketplace. One is that the price of making electricity is falling faster now than the state's standard offer price.
