Portland Book Event Highlights Stories of Maine Immigrants
07/09/2013   Reported By: Irwin Gratz

Immigration doesn't just bring people, it brings stories. Kristen Cappy of Curious City says the Portland Public Library and Maine Humanities Council are going to spend the year ahead highlighting some of those stories in a series called "I'm Your Neighbor, Portland." On Thursday evening, the library will present Terry Farish, who's written a novel, "The Good Braider." It draws its plot from real-life stories of Portland's immigrant communitiy. She'll be joined by O.D. Bonny, who's written a companion song. MPBN Morning Edition host Irwin Gratz sat down with all three of them last week. Farish describes her main character.
