Both Maine US Senators Voted For Senate Filibuster Deal
07/16/2013   Reported By: Tom Porter

Maine's GOP Senator Susan Collins has welcomed today's tentative agreement to avert the so-called "nuclear option," which would have limited minority Republicans from fully exercising the filibuster. Maine's other US Senator, Independent Angus King also voted for the agreement. The chamber voted 71-29 vote to move towards averting a consitutional showdown. Something that would effectively clear the way for a number, but not all of President Obama's nominees to take federal office. Today's developments followed an intense 3-and-a-half hour closed door session at the Senate last night. Both Maine senators spoke about today's agreement.
