06/11/2014 03:08 PM ET

Kennebunk Police Lt. Dan Jones says Robert Simkowitz was charged this morning with two counts of criminal threatening.

A 39-year-old man from Old Orchard Beach has been charged in connection with two threatening notes left in mailboxes in Kennebunk. One of the notes said, "I will not stay away from your kids. Your friend, pervert."

Kennebunk Police Lt. Dan Jones says Robert Simkowitz was charged this morning with two counts of criminal threatening. Jones says one of the mailboxes had a surveillance camera set up on it.

"Obviously we tried to get that video out and the still photos out to as many people as we could through social media and through the news outlets," Jones says.

Jones says his department received a number of calls that pointed to the same person. Simwokitz is scheduled to appear in Biddeford District Court Dec. 3.
