King Camp Asks TV Stations to Pull RNSC Ads
09/24/2012 12:55 PM ET

Independent Senate candidate Angus King's campaign is threatening legal action if TV stations don't pull a pair of ads accusing him of backroom deals and profiteering on a wind power project in Maine. The King campaign is also airing a TV spot that aims to set the record straight.

PORTLAND, Maine (AP) _ Campaign Manager Kay Rand said Monday that the campaign petitioned TV stations in Portland, Bangor and Presque Isle because the Republican National Senatorial Committee's ads contain falsehoods. Among them: The ads say King made "millions'' off the Record Hill project while he really made $212,000.

King has cut ties with the wind energy company to avoid a conflict.

Kathy Sutton of Roxbury, site of the Record Hill project, said residents are benefiting from reduced taxes, job creation and an energy rebate.

(Copyright 2012 by The Associated Press.
