| Hank Mobley Reassessed |

Jazz critic Leonard Feather famously damned saxophonist Hank Mobley with faint praise as "the middleweight champion of the tenor saxophone," and indeed Mobley was underrated in his lifetime. However a look back at his work, not only as a sideman but as a leader and composer, reveals that his efforts may be more enduring. The focus is on some of Mobley's later music which showed his strengths to greater effect.
