This week's show will feature trumpeter Donald Byrd, who passed away at the age of 80 on February 4th. Byrd, one of a crop of solid players to come out of Detroit in the 1950s, had a long, multifaceted career and was heard on many a classic and not-so-classic session as a leader and sideman. He was also an educator, having taught at Howard University, Rutgers, Cornell and elsewhere.
