American Civil Liberties Union of Maine met in Freeport recently for the annual Justice Louis Scolnik Awards dinner. The Award recognizes Maine lawmakers committed to protecting civil liberties. This year the award was presented to Augusta attorney Walt McKee,principal attorney at McKee Law and chair of the Legislative Committee of Maine Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.

The speakers were Laura Murphy, director of the ACLU's legislative office in D.C., and Maine defense attorney and Ethics Commission Chair Walt McKee, this year's recipient of the annual Justice Louis Scolnik Award.
