Maine Arts Live! offers performances and interviews that showcase Maine's diverse and active cultural life
The series introduces audiences to outstanding performing artists of varied genres and venues throughout the region. The interviews throughout the program provide insight into the music and performers and help portray the venue, its mission and its surroundings. Broadcasting live captures the atmosphere and energy of the venue and audience and provides a front row seat for listeners across Maine and beyond.

The Portland Chamber Music Festival kicked off its 2011 season with a program entitled Leclair, Vaughan Williams and Mendelssohn. It was broadcast live on MPBN Radio and mpbn.net featured Jean-Marie Leclair’s Sonata in C major, Op. 3 No. 3, Ralph Vaughan Williams’ On Wenlock Edge and Felix Mendelssohn’s Octet in E flat major, Op. 20, Also featured, Maine resident and famed tenor John McVeigh, he has performed with the Metropolitan Opera and Lyric Opera of Chicago.

Deer Isle Jazz Festival
Pianist Jason Moran

Friday Night Jazz traveled the Deer Isle Jazz Festival in Stonington for a special live broadcast. The performance was co-hosted by Friday Night Jazz host Rich Tozier and Morning Classical Music host Suzanne Nance. Featured performers were pianist Jason Moran and Japanese drummer Kaoru Watanabe.
