About the Program

There are over 7,000 people in Maine living with Parkinson’s disease.
These people are parents, spouses, coworkers and neighbors.

Easing the Burden is a new documentary from MPBN that tells the human stories behind Parkinson’s disease.  MPBN explores who these people are, how they cope and their fears and hopes surrounding Parkinson’s Disease.

Michael J. Fox agreed to be part of the program, given that the Michael J. Fox Foundation funds and supports Parkinson’s based research being conducted right here in Maine at the Jackson Laboratory.  MPBN traveled to Manhattan in late May and interviewed Michael on Parkinson’s issues facing both himself and all Parkinson’s sufferers.

The program is produced by Daniel Lambert who also produced MPBN's "Caring for the Caregiver: Dementia and Alzheimer's Disease" and is narrated by MPBN’s Suzanne Nance.

Founded by the University of Maine System and Colby, Bates and Bowdoin Colleges.
