Maine Built Boats: Art and Soul
September 8, 2012
MAine built boats

A brief look at the boatbuilders of Maine, the types of boats they build, and the craftsmanship they used.

The State of Maine has a long boatbuilding history. The evolution of the Maine lobsterboat hull is well renown for its seaworthy characteristics, and these hulls are also used in the pleasure boat market. There are also a number of boat builders in Maine using differently designed hulls. What separates many of Maine’s boatbuilders is the craftsmanship. It does not matter if it is a rowboat or a megayacht the construction and attention to detail is second to none. This film will give a glimpse into the world of the Maine boatbuilder.
