Maine writer May Sarton reveals her life, her work, and her vision in this first-person portrait, filmed in York, ME.

Enter the world of poet, novelist, and memoirist May Sarton. World of Light is narrated by Sarton herself, offering a picture of her life as a woman writer outside the literary mainstream, in her world of solitude, society, and passion in York, Maine. The film documents Sarton at age 65, contemplating her long career and the nature of her work, reading poetry, discussing her loves and her influence. Sarton reflects on solitude, how and why writes and the impact and unforeseen popularity of her journals. She offers wisdom, practice and art.
