August 3, 2013
Colby College

In Their Foosteps is the turbulent, uplifting story of the history of Colby College from its birth in 1813 to today.

When Jeremiah Chaplin and seven students left Boston in 1818 on the sloop Hero, they blazed a path of faith, commitment, and perserverance that others have followed for two centuries. In Their Footsteps is the turbulent, uplifting story of the history of Colby College, from it’s birth in 1813, to the admission of women in 1871, from the decision in 1931 to build a new Waterville campus to the student take over of Lorimer Chapel in 1970 and beyond. Colby’s history is studded with leaders whose foresight has kept the College alive and thriving. Trace their path through the stories that have forged Colby’s character for 200 years.
