From the Bow Seat is a 56-minute not-for-profit educational documentary film exploring important environmental issues impacting the Gulf of Maine: Gulf of Maine topography and history; depletion of cod stocks; puffin seabird restoration; and sustainable lobstering.
The film follows a family with two teenage daughters on a week-long cruise along the Maine coast while interviewing experts such as Colin Woodard, the author of the Lobster Coast, Stephen Kress (from Project Puffin), Diane Cowan (lobster conservationist), Sherm Stanley and Foy Brown, two longtime lobstermen and Carl Wilson a lobster biologist from the Maine Department of Marine Resources and get a first hand look at their project sites along the coast. The film aims to increase awareness of the younger generation and inspire them to active stewardship of the unique environmental treasure called The Gulf of Maine.
From the Bow Seat is produced by Linda Cabot. It's her family who are the subject of From the Bow Seat.
