This film examines the people hard at work to hold on to an enduring symbol of North America’s wildest places, the Atlantic Salmon.

From Long Island Sound to the northernmost point of Labrador, a national treasure has slowly disappeared. The Atlantic Salmon, is arguably the holy grail of freshwater angling, a cultural icon, and a great indicator of the effect of man’s troubled history with his natural environment. This film examines the people hard at work in the fight to hold onto an enduring symbol of North America’s wildest places. This journey explores the outer most reaches of Labrador, the Gaspe Bay Peninsula and New Brunswick, to the inner workings of hatcheries and fish traps on wide-ranging rivers. From the rich sporting heritage to the mystery of the salmon’s travels at sea, this film will take you on an exploration of how a few dedicated parties are throwing themselves into saving this majestic fish.
