The Portland Chamber Music Festival kicked off its 2012 season with a program entitled Boccherini, Hindemith and Dvorak, from Hannaford Hall at USM.
It featured Boccherini's Quintet for Guitar and Strings in D major, G. 448 Fandango, Hindemith's Des Todes Tod, for Soprano, 2 violas and 2 cellos, Op. 23a, and Dvorak's String Quintet in E flat major, Op. 97 American.
Opening Night featured the PCMF debut of one of the world’s leading classical guitarists, David Leisner. Soprano Tony Arnold, renowned for her stunning interpretations of contemporary music, also made her first festival appearance in Hindemith’s unique “Des Todes Tod” for Soprano, Two Violas, and Two Cellos.
