Esther Attean from the Muskie School of Public Service, Martha Proulx from Maine DHHS, and Denise Altvater, Director of the Wabanaki Friends Service Committee, who was taken as a child from her home, will focus on the Maine Wabanaki-State Child Welfare Truth and Reconciliation Commission, and what it hopes to accomplish.

Earlier this summer, the state signed a historic mandate aimed at coming to terms with Maine's bleak record concerning Native American children - many were forcibly removed from their homes and communities, and sent to boarding schools or foster homes.
