| Light redeems the darkness in this luminous oil on board by Colin Barclay titled 'Winter Afternoon'. Struggling to be seen, the sun finds a translucent fissure in the brooding purple clouds. The hills remain shrouded in darkness, but the light energizes the strip of water nearest the shore, illuminating the otherwise cold blue sea. This fine painting is within a silvered wide wood frame measuring 11x16 inches. Artist Barclay explores the interface of light and landscape in his paintings of the Maine Coast and New York's Hudson Valley. His works have been selected for solo and group exhibits at galleries throughout Maine and New York. He is represented by Leighton Gallery of Blue Hill. Learn more and place a bid.
