| This remarkable pastel painting entitled "Octopus" was created by Wade Zahares of Lyman to illustrate his third picture book, "Big, Bad and a Little Bit Scary", published by Viking Children's Books, which is included with this work. The sinuous tentacles of the octopus weave through the blue and green water. He looks at us through his slit eye as we admire his smooth red and green complexion. Like soldiers marching, lines of tentacles in soft pink, blue and light green await their orders to hold the prey. This work is matted in deep green under glass within a satin black metal frame of 29 by 44 inches. Books by Artist Zahares have been named Best Children's Book of the Year by Time Magazine and the New York Times, and his work is in the collections of Phillips Academy, the Decordova Museum and major corporations. His paintings have been in significant solo and juried shows throughout the Eastern United States. Learn more and place a bid.
