Description:

This striking acrylic and water oil painting on canvas by Maine artist Diana Young is aptly titled ‘Huge Hull’.  The canvas is dominated by the shimmering hull of the sailboat, awash in sea colors of blue and green, and reflecting the bright sun as it sits on its winter stand waiting for its summer immersion.  The sun is fractured into prisms of creamy white and pale yellow as it climbs into the bright azure sky, as the boat lift and neighboring hull look on. This work is a generous 40 inches by 40 inches in its narrow blond wood frame.  Artist Young is represented by Eastport Gallery, and her paintings may be seen as well at Courthouse Fine Art in Ellsworth and Nickerson Gallery of Belfast.   Her work is in ‘The Art of Monhegan Island’ by Carl Little, and has been exhibited in galleries and shows throughout Maine and beyond.
